HDBMB congress and FEBS3+ conference
HDBMB congress will be held between 2-5 September, 2018 in Siófok, Hungary within FEBS3+ meeting "From molecules to living system". The meeting is hosted by the Hungarian Biochemical Society, and is jointly organised with the Croatian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Slovenian Biochemical Society, and the Serbian Biochemical Society. The scientific program will cover the most up-to-date topics in the field of molecular life sciences, particularly biochemistry and molecular biology. Special attention will be given to omics and systems approaches, and to studies exploring the molecular basis of disease. The organisers of the FEBS3+ Balaton 2018 Conference offer a fellowship possibility for young researchers under scheme FEBS Junior Fellowship.
FEBS Workshop on Molecular Life Science Education
FEBS and HDBMB organize FEBS Workshop on Molecular Life Science Education hosted by Faculty of Farmacy and Biochemistry, Domagojeva 2, Zagreb. Workshop will be held on April 4th and 5th, 2018.
One-day symposium „New Diagnostic Trends in Early Detection of Oncological and Rare Diseases“, Ruđer Bošković Institute, Zagreb on April 17, 2018
The symposium will be organised by the Croatian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Slovenian Biochemistry Society with an aim to inform the scientific community on developments and new perspectives in biomolecular life sciences, arising from advancements in methodology. The symposium will comprise lectures given by eminent researchers devoted to diagnostic and early detection of oncological and rare diseases. The tremendous advancements in methodology, such as next-generation sequencing technology, have transformed biological and biomedical research, providing a platform that drives genetic analysis at unprecedented rates. The symposium will undoubtedly provide an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with researchers and professionals such as physicians and clinicians, whose attendance will be recognised by the Croatian Medical Chamber. Our special thanks go to the general sponsor Kemomed for providing us with the resources necessary for the organisation of this meeting. There is no participation fee for the symposium. Registration via email: email@example.com with subject line „Registration for Symposia 17.4.2018.“

WILLIAM MARTIN - LAUREATE OF THE SPIRIDION BRUSINA MEDAL FOR 2017
At the proposal of HDBMB, the Spiridion Brusina Medal for 2017 was awarded to Prof. William Frank Martin by the Croatian Society of Natural Sciences. Prof. Martin is Full Professor and director of the Institute for Molecular Evolution at the Henrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. The field of scientific work of Prof. Martin is evolutionary biology, more precisely the physiology of evolution. Areas where Prof. Martin has left the greatest mark in modern science is explaining the main processes in two of the most important evolutionary transition - endosymbiosis in the origin of eukaryotes and geochemistry in the origin of life. Spiridion Brusina Medal award ceremony was held in the Matrix croatica on November 3rd, 2017, during which Prof. Martin gave lecture "Symbiogenesis, gradualism, and mitochondrial energy in eukaryote evolution".
40th ANNIVERSARY OF HDBMB
During year 2016 the Croatian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HDBMB) proudly celebrated its 40th Anniversary through various activities.
The Croatian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HDBMB) is a non-profit scientific and professional organisation gathering experts interested in biochemistry and molecular biology and other related sciences within the frame of research, education, and application.
HDBMB is a member of the Federation of European Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (FEBS), the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) and the Croatian Society of Natural Sciences...
